Let&#8217;s talk about what is dehydration, the causes and signs that you&#8217;re dehydrated, and what to do in order to avoid dehydration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><strong>What is Dehydration?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dehydration happens when your body doesn&#8217;t have as much water as it needs. Without enough, your body can&#8217;t function properly. You can have mild, moderate, or severe dehydration depending on how much fluid is missing from your body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Water is essential. You can go without food for up to 3 weeks but not without water for more than 3-4 days. So hydration is necessary for survival.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><b>Causes of dehydration<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How do we get dehydrated? The most common cause is not drinking enough water throughout the day \u2014 but things like hot weather, drinking too much caffeine or alcohol, and working out are other factors. There are also less common causes of dehydration to keep an eye out for \u2014 like stress, certain medications, aging, high altitudes, and burns (including sunburns).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><b>Signs that you are dehydrated include-<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One of the easiest ways to tell is by checking the color of your urine. If it looks clear or pale yellow, then you\u2019re drinking enough water. But if your urine is a darker yellow or an amber color, then it\u2019s time to hydrate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Signs of mild or moderate dehydration include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thirst<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dry or sticky mouth<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not peeing very much<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dark yellow pee<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dry, cool skin<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Headache- Extreme headache<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Muscle cramps<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Signs of severe dehydration include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not peeing or having very dark yellow pee<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Very dry skin<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Feeling dizzy<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rapid heartbeat<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rapid breathing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sunken eyes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sleepiness, lack of energy, confusion, or irritability- Not sleeping enough, feeling lethargic<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fainting- Dizziness or fatigue, loss of electrolytes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6><strong>Symptoms in Babies and Young children<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Symptoms for babies and young children can be different than for adults:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dry mouth and tongue<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No tears when crying<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dry diapers for 3 hours<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sunken eyes, cheeks, soft spot on the top of the skull<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sleepiness, lack of energy, or irritability<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you\u2019re feeling any of the following severe signs that you&#8217;re dehydrated seek a medical condition right away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lastly, So make sure to hydrate yourself enough.
