This cake is ready in 20 minutes, making an excellent breakfast, snack or party appetizer. This delectable vegan and gluten-free bites can be steamed, baked or even cooked in the microwave. Simply yum!!!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6><b>Ingredients<\/b><\/h6>\n<h6><b>Milling your own flour<\/b><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a02 cups chana daal<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><b>Khaman Dhokla Batter<\/b><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">besan\/gram flour<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> 2 cups<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">oil 1 tsp<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">lemon juice, freshly squeezed 1 tbsp\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ginger, grated \u00bd tsp\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">green chillies, chopped 1 tsp (optional)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1 tsp sugar<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">salt to taste<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1 tsp fruit salt \/ baking soda\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a pinch of turmeric<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">water 1 cup<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><b>Tempering<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1 tbsp oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1 tsp\u00a0 mustard seeds<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">urad dal 1 tsp\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">green or red chilies, halved (optional) 2<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">curry leaves 8<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><b>Garnishing<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1 tbsp grated coconut (optional)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cilantro, chopped<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><b>Instructions<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Step 1: Grind your flour<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8211; You can either mill your grains or use store-bought gram flour. If using a grain mill,\u00a0 switch on the Grain Mill to Pastry mode, before pouring the grains into the mill. Gather the flour from the storage container.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Step 2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: <\/span><b>Prepare Batter<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8211;\u00a0 Combine the flour, lemon juice, ginger, green chilies, oil, salt, sugar, and water to make a smooth batter in a mixing bowl. The batter should be the uniform of a pancake batter. Once the batter is smooth, adjoin fruit salt or baking soda to quickly ferment the batter. Shuffle again until the batter gets bubbly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Step 3: Grease the mold &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Now oil the container you are using like, springform pan, muffins molds, baking tray or cups and pour the batter.\u00a0 Cook it by choosing one of the methods below.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Step 4 : Cook it<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8211; Steaming it in the pressure cooker, baking it in the oven or microwaving it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Step 5 :\u00a0 Temper and Adorn <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211; Temper it with flavored oil. Warm oil in a small container, throw in the tempering mix and once you hear the crackling, pour it over the khaman dhokla. Allow it to cool for 10 minutes. Decorate with cilantro and \/or shredded coconut. Once cooled, remove from the mold or cutting pieces.
