Originated in the city of Mathura and in present-day Uttar Pradesh, India. The main ingredients are khoya (evaporated milk), sugar, and traditional flavorings, including cardamom seeds, pistachio nuts, and saffron, and the color itself varies from white to a caramel-based color.

Keto Malai Peda Recipe 

Ingredients
  • 400 g of ricotta cheese 
  • 50 g of unsalted butter 
  • 160 g of whey protein powder, preferably unflavoured, or vanilla
  • 1/3 of cup powdered Erythritol or any low carb sweetener or to taste
  • 1 tsp of cardamom powder
  • butter or ghee for greasing
  • 1 tsp sugar-free vanilla extract
  • Chopped or whole almonds for topping

Instructions
  • Soften the butter in the pan, keep the stove on a moderate flame.
  • Combine the ricotta cheese and blend with the butter. Continue mixing it till the cheese melts.
  • Now add the sweetener and keep processing it, guaranteeing the mixture does not stick to the pan.
  • Then add the protein powder, a half cup at a time, till the mixture starts to thicken.
  • Now keep stirring to assure there are no lumps, and then add the remaining powder.
  • Now after 5 minutes of cooking, the mixture will get thick so add the vanilla essence and cardamom powder and give it a good mix.
  • Allow the mixture to cool, so that you can shape them into balls. Lubricate your palms with butter or ghee and start developing the lumpy mixture into small balls and pushing them lightly in the middle. Now you can make 20 average-shaped or 25 small-shaped balls based on your own preference.
  • Top each ball with chopped or whole almonds and keep the protein balls refrigerated for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months or let them defrost in the fridge overnight.
