In India, “chaat” is a word that describes more than just a couple of snacks: It’s a way of life, and a category of food that hits practically every element that makes something crave—sweet, tangy, spicy, sour and crunchy.

The origin of this word probably comes in connection to the taste and sensation of chatpata which can be best described as salty, sweet, and tangy in most savory snacks and foods.
