Keto Diet And Type 2 Diabetes With Dr. Eric Westman

Diabetes

Type 2 Diabetes is a chronic condition in which blood sugar can no longer be regulated. There are two reasons for this. First, the cells of the body become resistant to insulin. Insulin works like a key to let blood sugar move out of the blood and into the cells where it is used as fuel for energy.

When the cells become insulin resistant, moving sugar into the cells requires more and more insulin, and too much sugar stays in the blood. Over time, if the cells require more and more insulin, the pancreas can\’t make enough insulin to keep up and begins to fail.

Type 2 diabetes is a lifelong disease that keeps your body from using insulin the way it should. People with type 2 diabetes are said to have insulin resistance. It is the most common form of diabetes mellitus, which is a group of diseases associated with high blood sugar, called hyperglycemia.

Here\’s Dr. Eric Westman\’s experience with Keto Diet and Type 2 Diabetes.

15 Years Of His Experience

Well, it has been almost 15 years since I have a small clinic. It\’s a clinic within a university as a public health model. And we have seen about 8,000 people over the last 15 years. And we want to do much more than that.

Dr. Mentions that it has been 15 years since he has been running his clinic and he has seen and treated over 8000 people so far. He adds that it is still very less and he intends to do much more than this.

His Upcoming Venture

So actually we\’re developing our first online course for people to take anywhere. So you just need to sign up for the course and we\’ll teach you the version of the keto diet that we\’ve been using and studying for 20 years. And we want no address or treat. Now, our goal is 20,000 people over the next three years. So we really want to take what we\’ve learned in a smaller amount of people and expand it to a much larger number of people. And I think it\’s achievable with the internet and digital teaching platforms. I\’m really impressed with those. And that is what our goal is, to expand the treatment, to many, many more people.

Dr. Eric mentions that he is in process of developing the first online course for people to take across the globe. He says that all one needs to do is sign up and they will learn the version of the keto diet that his team have been using and studying for 20 years.

Dr. Further mentions that the end goal is to teach 20,000 people over the next three years. He says that whatever he has learned so far, he wants to spread that across the masses. Dr. Eric believes that all of this is achievable with the help of digital teaching platforms which really fascinates him.

He adds that the goal is to treat as many people as possible.
